Cairns Montessori is an extended day kindergarten catering for children 15 months to school age, established by Amanda Munro in May 2009. Amanda continues to be involved in the day to day operations of Cairns Montessori as owner operator.
Amanda is also the Director, spending 3 hours per day in classrooms guiding children through their work cycles and mentoring assistants in Montessori.
Amanda shares a passion for teaching, eco-sustainable practice and community based projects.
Amanda, an Early Childhood Teacher and AMI Montessori directress envisioned to one day establish a Montessori school after years of working in various but related capacities such as managing children’s services, writing an educational framework for and directing a W.A. based early childhood education organisation, teaching at a school for children with Autism, lecturing at TAFE and working in cities such as New York and London.
Amanda has been involved in programmes such as the Father Inclusive Practice funded by FaCSIA and Child Street - Child Friendly Cities (International Institute of the Urban Environment, NL) and will continue to make valuable contributions to Early Childhood Education research and training.
