Sensitive Periods

The prepared environment is responsive to the sensitive periods children have for; movement, language and order.

Dr Montessori used this term to describe the sensitivity children display for developing certain skills or traits, if the sensitive period is missed all is not lost, however, the sensitive period is like a window for acquiring the skill with optimum efficiency.
